I work with couples struggling through issues such as affair recovery, pre-marital counseling and general relationship problems. Along with that I work with men struggling with sexual addiction or intimacy issues and I have a certification in sexual addiction treatment. I am also privileged to work with people recovering from childhood abuse and trauma by helping them process and heal from the violence they have experienced. With my background in hospice, I also do a lot of grief work and specialize in working with the surviving family members of those who have died by suicide.
I prefer to work from a psychodynamic perspective with couples, families, and individuals along with an attachment perspective. Attachment theory is the study of how we bond and posits that people are meant to be in a relationship.
I completed my Master of Arts in Counseling at MidAmerica Nazarene University. MNU trains under the highest accreditation in the field of counseling known as CACREP standards. In addition to this I have completed a year-long training program to certify me as a sexual addiction treatment provider (SATP-C).
I have previously worked as a hospice chaplain and grief counselor as well as an adjunct professor for MidAmerica Nazarene University. Faith is not important to everyone so I do not push my faith and I work with all clients regardless of faith.
